Surveillance is something that dates back to World War I. After the wars, surveillance continued and many agencies and programs were created. It was after 9/11 when surveillance really began booming. Surveillance today is found everywhere. We are monitored in many different ways such as, on public transportation, through remote cell phone tapping, PC printing tracking, radio frequency identification chips, the total information awareness program, and more.
Although surveillance can be helpful and beneficial in many ways, today in society, most feel their personal lives are being watched too closely. Personal information such as locations, conversations, actions, credit history, addresses, identification numbers, and much more, is accessible through surveillance. This makes it difficult to feel at ease. Where is the line when it comes to privacy? This poster campaign can help raise attention to the topic as many do not even know this is happening to them right now.
Through my research I have gained much knowledge on the topic of surveillance. I learned how much surveillance can negatively affect ones life in a great matter. The constitution states we have a right to privacy, so is surveillance today simply ignoring this? Where is the line? With effective imagery, bold statements, and a good visual layout the message be able to bring awareness to the society through the topic of surveillance.
